0 years ago, on the 14th of September 2012, powerhouse trio Swedish House Mafia
released to the world ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ to the world, to commercial and critical
success. Featuring as the last single from their compilation album ‘Until Now’ that was
released a month later, ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ is classed by many as a testament to what is
widely known as the golden age of EDM, passing 700 million streams on Spotify and selling an
1estimated 5 million copies worldwide.
‘Don’t You Worry Child’ features talented vocalist John Martin and contains an intoxicating progressive
house production, heavy hitting beats allow for euphoria and energetic motions, with heartfelt lyricism
discussing a father’s protection of his anxiety-suffering son. It’s a beautiful track that unsurprisingly
topped charts across the globe, becoming the group’s first top 10 in Billboard’s singles chart (peaking
at number 6). The track also received a Grammy Award nomination in the best dance recording in 2013,
this was awarded to Skrillex’s ‘bangarang’ however shows that the track was a testament to dance
music that year, a true crossover track that many class as their all-time favourite.
Prior to the track’s release, Swedish House Mafia announced their break-up and that the current tour
they were embarking on would be their last. On this very tour is where ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ was
premiered, during a set at Milton Keynes National Bowl on July 14th 2012, footage of this performance
was subsequently used as the official video for ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ which as of typing has been
viewed over 800 million times on YouTube. ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ is a timeless track that has seen
success that is rarely seen in the world of electronic music, releasing at the peak of the golden age of
EDM, the group and track’s legacy will continue to inspire others and touch the hearts of listeners.
