COVER INTERVIEW > PARISI: A NEW ERA IN EXPRESSIVE DANCE MUSIC
Of course, you both have a long professional relationship and
friendship with Fred again.. going back years. What is it that you think
makes things work so well with you guys?
MARCO: I think it’s a few things. Number one, there is total trust. We
always share our feelings and opinions and that is one of the most
important things.
JACK: We also connect on a human level which for us is the key, and if
we didn’t have that we couldn’t work with anyone. There’s also a total
lack of ego, it’s non-existent. It’s the most beautiful, natural and honest
process of creation and we are all extremely similar yet different at the
same time. Every one of us can do many different things. I cannot do
what Marco and Fred can do and vice versa. That’s also why we click so
well together. We bring so many different scenarios to the table.
MARCO: When I see us working I always try to look at us from the
perspective of being a fly on the wall and it’s so beautiful. It just works so
well and we understand each other so well, there’s so much chemistry.
Now, I think we’re a machine. We are so prolific together. All the wheels
are perfectly turning together and the mechanism works perfectly. At
the base of it all, there’s a lot of love.
Aside from Fred again.., there’s also a connection that you guys share
with both Swedish House Mafia and Anyma, working with them all
multiple times. What is it that connected you to these artists and how
do their sounds align with yours?
JACK: With the Swedes we said previously that it was a beautiful
surprise from Fred, because he knew how much of a fan I was and still
am of the guys. He was in touch with Sebastian [Ingrosso] without telling
me, and we got on a flight to Stockholm to go and work with them.
With Anyma, we love his music and his project, and he loved what we
were doing with the Swedes and Fred so we wanted to meet with him.
Also, the fact that we are all Italian makes the connection strong.
In terms of the sound aligning with ours, I think it all comes through
creation and it’s the same thing with Fred. We all come from different
backgrounds, and we all probably listen to different types of music
but sometimes it overlaps. For example, with Matteo [Anyma], we have
this strong Italian connection and we know the dance music culture in
Italy. We take so much inspiration from these old records growing up,
and with the Swedes it’s the same. They have so much experience and
culture from DJing from the early years. I think our sounds combine with
theirs because it all comes from so many different angles.
MARCO: I think the key is to find that magic place between things. They
have their background and we have ours but I think what’s beautiful
is how these worlds glue together, and what they become. I think the
music we all grew up listening to over the years informs our decisions.
It’s a beautiful collision and when it’s done nicely it’s one of the most
beautiful ways to bring music forward, and to explore new things. When
artists meet it’s such a powerful thing to see how those worlds collide
and see what the outcome is.
JACK: Also, I think from our side, from a sonic point of view, we always
try to bring new things to the table and see how the Swedes, Fred and
Matteo can connect with certain sounds.
