EDITORIAL > ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL 2024: A TALE OF TRIUMPH

When the “U” plants its flag in Florida for those three days in March, it’s
not a hope but a guarantee that truly special stuff will happen that
you can not see anywhere else. Ultra Miami has a knack for making
the impossible possible. They pull rabbits out of the hat that nobody
expects, and sometimes, those tricks even alter the course of the music.
It would be a lie to say that these once-in-a-lifetime moments have
always come easy. In recent history, Ultra Miami has had to navigate the
waters of some logistical hardships to bring the community the same
premium experience each year. However, every single time, Ultra Miami
has come out on the other side, finding a way to provide even more
special moments than before. As hundreds of thousands of people
made their way to the southern part of Florida for Miami Music Week
and Ultra Music Festival, little did anybody know that the 24th edition
would become a history-setting event for the brand and Ultra Miami
would have to pull off it’s biggest magic trick to date.

As Miami Music Week kicks off each year at the end of March, it instantly
fuels people’s excitement tanks as they know that Ultra Miami (at that
point) is only a few days away. The 24th edition was set to take place
from March 22nd to the 24th in the historic Bayfront Park once again.
The festival always packs a punch with its lineup, and this year was no
different. With acts such as David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Tiësto,
RL Grime b2b Knock2, Peggy Gou, Armin van Buuren, Artbat, Afrojack,
Nicky Romero, Eric Prydz, KSHMR, Calvin Harris and countless others, it
was a who’s who of electronic music. The world’s best DJs would once
again gather under the beautiful sky of Miami to show the world the new
productions and music they had been working on during the festival
break. Day one grew closer, and the park was nearly ready for the Ultra
Miami madness. The stages began to take their final form, the final
batch of artists began to enter the town and the hotels began to reach
capacity with eager festival goers ready for an unforgettable weekend.
However, with the final sleep before Ultra Miami 2024 began, nobody
knew that Friday would begin a chain of events that would forever be
remembered in Ultra history.

The night became the morning, and day one of Ultra Miami 2024 was
set to begin later in the afternoon. However, there was one problem.
A usually sunny and cloudless Miami during this time in March was
instead a rainy one. The bad weather was to be expected, but not to
the degree that it was at the start of Friday. Regardless, the day still
promised to be amazing. Attendees made their way down to the park
(less than usual for the start of the first day due to the rain) and were
excited to get things going. And despite the heavy rain that continued
to fall, gates opened, and Ultra 2024 was underway. Because of the
weather, Bayfront Park quickly collected large puddles of water across
the grounds, but the love of the music from attendees did not stop them
from dancing or having a great time. The afternoon began with the likes
of 3LAU, Nicky Romero, Alan Walker, Mind Against, Nostalgix, Ben Nicky
and Gem & Tauri who all delivered highly energetic sets to kick off the
day. Everything was ultimately a build-up to an incredibly anticipated
nightcap that would feature Tiësto, Slander, Nina Kraviz, Adam Beyer,
Apashe, Masterhand, Zeds Dead and ultimately Fisher and Chris Lake
bringing their ‘Under Construction’ show to headline the mainstage.
