erhaps one of the most bizarre collaborations we have seen in recent times,
the Swedish House Mafia have finally unveiled their collaboration with IKEA.
Besides their musical endeavours, the boys have been busy thinking outside of
the box with other creative projects. Just weeks ago, during Milan Design Week,
we gained the first glimpse at their OBEGRÄNSAD collection, which was initially
Pannounced in September of last year. Their collaboration alongside the Swedish
furniture company is to include more than 20 pieces of furniture, including everything from
desks, to chairs, and even a record player.

The pieces have been meticulously created with the intention of making everyday life easier
for music creatives, having been ergonomically designed with them in mind. What’s better, is
it is also aimed at those on a limited budget, to ensure everyone can find a use for this sleek
new collection.

One of the most distinctive pieces is the OBEGRÄNSAD desk, which brandishes two speaker
stands and a pull-out shelf to cater to those with additional hardware. Speaking on this specif-
ic piece in its official press release, IKEA designer Friso Wiersma spoke of its functionality:

“Sound is everything in music, and we have added two speaker stands to the desk to bring
the speakers to the ear level. We have also added a pull-out shelf below the desktop. This
functionality allows you to have a midi keyboard, for example, in easy reach, while maximis-
ing space on your desktop”

The whole collection is slated to drop in September. Before then, we hope to learn more about
what else we can expect from it when it hits stores.
