EDITORIAL > SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA’S DEFINING DANCE ANTHEM, ‘DON’T YOU WORRY CHILD,’ CROSSES 1 BILLION STREAMS
“It cemented the
group made of Axwell,
Sebastian Ingrosso and
Steve Angello as one
of the most legendary
music acts in history.”
'Don't You Worry Child' was released in September of
2012, and ever since then, it has become arguably the
most influential electronic song of all time. And now it
has reached a milestone that so few tracks have, a billion
streams. Joining a list of just slightly over 500 tracks, this is
one of the defining achievements that proves the cultural
impact that 'Don't You Worry Child' has made. Featuring
the vocals of John Martin and with the help of Michel
Zitron, this has become known as the progressive house
anthem. It cemented the group made of Axwell, Sebastian
Ingrosso and Steve Angello as one of the most legendary
music acts in history. And what is even more impressive,
with 961 million views, the music video is about to cross
the billion milestone too.
With the piano in the beginning, the chord progressions
throughout the track and the melody in the drop, this is
a perfect song. But what makes 'Don't You Worry Child'
special is its lyrics. The chorus before the drop is possibly
the most recognized phrase in all of electronic music,
and you can guarantee that any dancefloor, no matter
how small or large, knows that section word for word.
And now that the Swedish House Mafia have reunited,
you never know, we may get another one of these tracks
again in the future.
