SEVEN LIONS: I felt like the more pop-leaning songs and the tracks geared toward the

feeling or message ties this entire era together for you?
SEVEN LIONS:I’d say it’s more about a look and a feeling than a specific message,
like Beyond the Veil had. This time, it’s less about a defined concept or statement and
more about creating a mood - something I hope people can feel when they listen.
Sonically, it’s very cohesive: female vocals, strong trance elements - which for me
connect back to an old-school influence - and touches of metal layered in as well.
More than anything, this project feels like the deepest I’ve gone into my roots. I always
draw from them, but this time it’s really pushed to the forefront.

“Free” blends multiple sides of your sound, while “Dreams” shifts from Eurodance
into dubstep. At this point in your career, how do you decide when to stay within a

SEVEN LIONS:I go wherever the song takes me. I don’t really worry about genres too
much, unless I have a specific idea that I want to develop, but generally, I think genres,
when you get too granular, just feel restrictive. Coming from the metal background,
nobody just makes songs that are in one BPM or, you know, one rhythmic pattern. I just
                                                                                                                                                  don’t make music that way!

You’re heading into major shows like Red Rocks and two nights in San Francisco.
How are you evolving the live show to reflect both the album and this new EP as one
                                                                                                                                                  cohesive experience?
SEVEN LIONS:The album and the EP really complement each other visually and sonically,
so blending them hasn’t been that difficult. I’ve actually already been playing material
from the EP throughout the tour, so it’s been integrated into the set from the start.
Red Rocks is a really interesting challenge for us, though, because it’s the only venue
where we’re not able to hang production over the crowd. So translating that same
